NAME: REFOSCO IGT (red)
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 12% volume.
GRAPE VARIETIES USED: Refosco 100%.
PRODUCTION AREA AND EXPOSURE: Piave River basin south east of Treviso.
SOIL TYPE: good balance of clay and limestone components, rich in skeleton and organic substances.
TRAINING SYSTEM: Sylvoz.
VINTAGE: harvested by hand into crates at the end of September.
VINIFICATION: grapes are de-stemmed and crushed and then the skins are macerated in contact with the must for 7-8 days at a controlled temperature of 22-25 °C.
MATURATION AND AGEING: malolactic fermentation is completed in stainless steel containers and the wine is then aged further in the bottle before sale.
ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS: high-quality red grape with an intense, vinous fragrance reminiscent of autumn fruits, particularly raspberry and bramble. Tannin-rich palate, full bodied with a crisp, lingering finish.
SUGGESTED PAIRINGS: ideal accompaniment to game dishes, salami, cured meats and roasts.
HOW TO SERVE: at a temperature of 18 °C in large red wine glasses.
